About the BIOBANK
Defense & Veterans Center for Integrative Pain Management (DVCIPM) is enrolling in a Pain Registry Biobank Research Protocol to advance pain-related research at WRNMMC. We invite all persons eligible for healthcare at WRNMMC between the ages of 18 and 80 to participate. Although there is not a direct benefit to you for participating, we anticipate this research study will lead to new pain treatments, and diagnostic tools. This study will take approximately 2 hours of your time in the first year, and half an hour per year thereafter.
The Pain Registry Biobank is a novel, innovative IRB-approved registry that combines patient-reported outcomes (PASTOR) with blood/tissue samples and medical history data from enrolled participants. The Pain Registry Biobank recruits both clinical populations and healthy control subjects. Blood and tissue samples linked with enrolleeās PASTOR responses and their electronic medical record data are banked, providing an unparalleled pain biomarkers resource. This rich database has resulted in a patient outcomes registry that can support point-of-care treatment decision making. The database also allows aggregation of data from a large number of patients and enables assessment of the safety and effectiveness of therapies. The Pain Registry Biobank is available for researchers to therapies. The Pain Registry Biobank is available for researchers to apply to use these samples for their research studies.
Please reach out to DVCIPM at BiobankWR@usuhs.edu if you would like information on how to enroll as a participant in the Pain Registry Biobank or if you are researcher and would like to talk with DVCIPM about applying to use the data and samples from this rich database in about applying to use the data and samples from this rich database in your own research study.
